Turkish Baths in Erzurum

turkishbath2mh62Lala Pasha Turkish Bath:

It takes place near Tebriz Gate in Erzurum. It was built by Lala Mustafa Pasha with a mosque in 1562. The architect of the mosque is Mimar Sinan, so it is thought that he is also  the architect of the bath. The bath is in style of classic Ottoman architecture. However, the crossed plan was used in this bath.

Paople also call this bath as “Çöplük(rubbish) Bath”, the reason of which is not known. It consists of dressig room, warm room, hot room and one-person-bath parts. The dressing room is covered with a dome. The warm room is in rectangle shape and covered with a dome. The hot room is covered with a central dome and there are three vaulted yards on its sides. There are  one-person-bath parts on the southeast and southwest of the bath.
The bath is made of hewn stones and bricks. Some parts of the bath are covered with domes and there are water tanks and a boiler behind the are  one-person-bath parts.
